From the Artist

I Hate Being Ugly is a collection of objects produced while working as a resident at the Arlington Arts Center. These objects are presented with the detritus of their creative birth to provide the viewer with hints to their origin, and eventual demise, within this immersive installation. This installation showcases pieces that embody a dichotomy of comfort and unease that can be alternately repulsive or welcoming. I am actively exploring color intensification and the abject to create compositions and forms that are both strangely vague and seemingly familiar.

My process is generative in nature; one move will often lead to the next. As one object sets the groundwork for the next, the detritus of my experimentation litter the floor and accumulate on the walls of the space. These remnants form a dialogue with the completed objects and serve as the environment for this installation.
